For thousands of years the Mediterranean sea has been a battleground for empires such as the Roman and Venetian and where the Ottoman fleet was heavily defeated at the battle of Lepanto in 1571. But this sea has also served as a trade route from Phoenician times till the present day.

The  Postal Union of the Mediterranean “EUROMED POSTAL” encompassing 17 countries was created with the objective of implementing shared policies covering logistics, technology and financial sectors.

Twelve member countries will issue this common design based on the winning entry of Egypt Post.
