2026 constitutes a landmark year for philately worldwide since it marks the 100^th anniversary from the establishment of the International Federation of Philately (FIP). The federation was established in Paris on 18 June 1926 by a small group of European philately federations, having as their main aim to create an international cooperation framework and to promote the collection of stamps as a cultural and an educational medium. Today it constitutes the leading international body, representing more than 90 national federations. As the competent body for the definition of the international regulations governing philately exhibitions and competitions, it ensures that high quality standards are met, steadily promoting philately as the “king of hobbies”. The anniversary of the centennial honours, not only the historical route of the organisation, but it also actively aims to attract new collectors. For this purpose, a special anniversary logo has been created, which the federation has asked that all the post office administrations worldwide include in their commemorative stamps’ editions in honour of this important anniversary.
