Launch of the Counter Automation System at Cyprus Post
Today, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a press conference was held at the service area of the Lefkosia District Post Office to present the new Counter Automation System at Cyprus Post.
The conference was attended by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis; the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Dr. Nikodimos Damianou and the Deputy Director of Cyprus Post, Mr. Pavlos Pavlidis.
In his address, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, stated:
“Cyprus Post is taking an important step today towards modernizing its services, with a system that fundamentally changes the way citizens are served. As the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, we actively support projects that improve daily life and strengthen citizens’ trust in the state.”
Referring to the new system, the Minister explained that it leverages modern technologies, reduces transaction time, eases the administrative burden on staff, and creates a unified and secure environment for all postal operations.
“Its implementation was made possible through effective cooperation among the competent Services and Ministries,” he added.
He concluded:
“The Government invests in solutions that have a real impact on citizens: faster and more reliable service, greater transparency, and better access to services across Cyprus. With the implementation of this project, we lay the foundations for a new era at Cyprus Post, aiming for a more modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly state.”
The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Dr. Nikodimos Damianou, emphasized that the introduction of the new information system marks another tangible achievement in the state’s digitalization program.
“This is a step that translates into real, measurable benefits for every citizen and every business,” he noted.
“Citizens now enjoy greater convenience, transparency, and speed in every transaction, while at the same time, the system provides postal staff with the tools to focus on their core mission: quality and human-centered service,” he added.
“This system is one of the first fully integrated information systems to be implemented in critical state services—alongside the new Customs system and the Ministry of Education’s eDEA system announced earlier this year—confirming that the digital transition is advancing rapidly and delivering substantial results for citizens and businesses,” he concluded.
Finally, in his brief remarks, the Acting Director of Cyprus Post, Mr. Pavlos Pavlidis, highlighted the importance of the project as a modernization step for Cyprus Post and a key element in the overall effort to improve citizen services. He also stressed that the system is dynamic and will be continuously upgraded with new functions according to customer needs.
