Update-Parcels from Germany

20/01/2021

Cyprus Post would like to inform you as follows:

  1. A large quantity of parcels arrived as of 20th December onwards. Large quantities still arrive.
  2. Due to the dramatic reduction of the available flights caused by the pandemic, the German Post use mainly road and then sea transportation to send the parcels to Cyprus in containers. These extraordinary operational conditions, cause a delay in dispatch of the parcels and their subsequent arrival in Cyprus.
  3. The large quantities that arrived in Cyprus in bulk, in a very limited period of time, exceeded the capacity of Cyprus Post, both in terms of premises as well as of staff, especially in the conditions of pandemic.
  4. Cyprus Post have implemented various ways to handle and clear the accumulated volumes the earliest possible, including collection from the local Parcel Post Offices, extended home delivery, as well as the use of Parcel24 parcel lockers, exceptionally for this period for non-subscribers as well.
  5. Please note that when the Track & Trace, system shows as the last event “Item sent abroad/ Αποστολή αντικειμένου στην χώρα προορισμού”, this denotes that a dispatch has been prepared but does not necessarily mean that it departed on the date shown. The official tracking information is provided by the Track & Trace system on our website. Any other information displayed on other track & trace pages or e-shops is not accurate as it is often based on estimations, given the fact that physical scanning of the item in Cyprus is required in order for the actual information to be displayed.
  1. A number of parcels has arrived in Cyprus damaged (wet and damaged packaging). We have followed all procedures as per the regulations of the Universal Postal Union. All items that are in a deliverable condition and their recipient can be identified are placed in the delivery flow.
  2. We would like to assure our customers that we are doing our utmost to serve you in our best possible manner, under extraordinary and difficult conditions due to the pandemic. We ask for your patience and understanding. The sharp increase in the number of inbound parcels compared to previous years, as well as their delayed and mass arrival in Cyprus, has inevitably lead to a further delay in processing in Cyprus.
