The "ELENION" Primary School is a continuation of the Primary School of Agios Savvas, which was founded in 1859 by Archbishop Makarios A’. In 1925, following the noble donation of Mr. Konstantinos Loizides, who, wanting to honour the memory of his daughter Eleni who had passed away in 1919 at the age of 22, offered the necessary amount for the construction of a new building for the school, which was renamed "ELENION".

It is one of the most beautiful neoclassical buildings in Nicosia with a great educational tradition and a huge contribution to the national, social and cultural sectors. It was attended by important personalities of the country, fighters of the 1940s and of EOKA, political and economic figures, doctors and writers.

In the schoolyard there is the small chapel of Agios Trifillios, the first Bishop and Patron of Nicosia.

Since 2013, "ELENION" operates as an Optional All-Day School and as a Public Kindergarten.
