In 2024 the Universal Postal Union (UPU) celebrates 150 years of life. It was founded in 1874 and is based in Bern, Switzerland. It is the second oldest international organization with 192 member countries.

The Union's statutory purpose of creating a single global postal area in the age of globalization is gaining weight.

UPU's slogan on the occasion of its 150th anniversary "150 years of facilitating communication and empowering the people of all nations", recognizes this achievement and reinforces its commitment to serve the people for years to come.
